Declan has spent more than 10 years in the private sector, the last eight as managing director of Kilbeg Energy, a Cork firm that designs and builds solar and wind projects. His first trip to Baku, in 2014, was meant to last two days for a conference. He stayed for a fortnight.
Since then he has worked on projects across the South Caucasus and has become one of the most familiar faces at our events. He chairs the Energy and Renewables working group and became Chair of the board in 2024.
Away from work, Declan coaches an under-12s hurling team and admits he is still learning to cook a proper plov.
